Santo Domingo. -A high-level commission of the Ministry of Education began preparations for the 2026-2027 school year, emphasizing issues such as student enrollment projections, available space, and the availability of textbooks.
The commission made up of vice ministers and departmental directors was formed by departmental order 04-2026, issued by the minister, Luis Miguel De Camps.
It will be coordinated by the Vice Ministry of Technical and Pedagogical Services, responsible for convening the working groups and monitoring the planned actions, with the aim of guaranteeing compliance with the established plan.
It is also made up of the vice ministries of Educational Planning and Development, Supervision and Quality Control of Education, Administrative Management and Teacher Accreditation and Certification, of that state agency.

Likewise, the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) and the directorates of School Infrastructure, Human Resources, Communication and the Ministerial Cabinet, among other agencies.
Its functions also include specifying the needs of teachers, monitoring the recruitment and competition processes; ensure the appointment of teaching, administrative and support staff in educational centers for the beginning of the school year, as well as define the summer training that will guide the pedagogical actions of the school year.
In addition, he will be in charge of defining the processes for acquiring educational media and teaching materials necessary to support teaching; guarantee the availability of textbooks for each grade, and ensure the acquisition of the furniture required in educational centers.
Other functions include ensuring the provision of school supplies for students and food from the beginning of teaching; ensure that the schools are in optimal conditions for the educational process, as well as prepare and submit to the National Council of Education the calendar that will govern the 2026-2027 school year.
