He Congress Execute one Remodeling valued at S/ 85 million soles With the aim of adapting its infrastructure to the new bicameral system, which will enter into force in 2026, a final point report reported. The project includes a series of works of adaptation, refaction and modernization in parliamentary buildings, many of which present serious structural problems.
As evidenced by the program, part of the facilities of the Parliament have deterioration, leaks, electrical failures and lack of maintenance, which represents a risk for staff and visitors. This is followed by a millionaire budget to condition the spaces to future Senate and Deputies cameras.

According to the senior officer of the Congress, Giovanni Forno, to an end, the plan includes the remodeling of session rooms, administrative offices, electrical and air conditioning systems, in addition to the implementation of new technological equipment and security improvements. It is also evaluated to expand or rent additional real estate to meet the demand for space that will involve the operation of the two cameras.
The companies in charge of the remodeling are Technical Engineers SRL, responsible for wiring and pipes, and E-Business Distribution SA, in charge of the voting system and screens. The third floor will be dismantled, while basement, first and second floor are also in remodeling. Despite the magnitude of the works, previous reports had already warned of the danger that the structure of the Congress represented, facts that are just officially recognized.
Forno said that the first remodeling work must culminate in July 2026. “Currently, two fundamental works are being done. The first is on electrical installations (S/29 million) and sanitary and the second is the technological implementation (S/56 million),” he said.

Other expenses: The cost of rentals
On the other hand, Congress currently has 13 properties under its administration: six institutional property, three transferred in use and five rented. The Hospice Ruiz Dávila, leased since 2009, has demanded more than S/ 8.6 million, to which other S/ 12 million in remodeling and maintenance works are added.
To this are added millionaire contracts for the use of spaces in the Manhattan building, the Italy building and in offices located on San Luis Avenue, whose annual payments exceed 3 million soles.
Although the current Board of Directors has assured that these rental contracts will not renew, the continuity of these measures will depend on the next administrations of Parliament.
