This Tuesday, in Commission VII of the House of Representatives, Minister Carolina Corcho socialized the text of the health reform and resolved the main doubts of the project to the congressmen who are part of this commission.

At that same time, President Gustavo Petro sent a message of support to Minister Corcho, after several questions about her, among them the criticism of the president of Congress, Roy Barreras.
“The Minister of Health, Carolina Corcho, has my full support”wrote the head of state on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
The message from the head of state comes two days after the minister was harshly questioned by the president of Congress, Roy Barreras, who in an interview with EL TIEMPO described her as arrogant.

“Minister Corcho, who is an ideologized minister, unfortunately has a characteristic, which is not good and is not fair in any minister, and it is arrogance. She breaks the dialogue, imposes her decisions, does not even listen to her peers in the cabinet does not listen to the unions and disqualifies them and feeds a kind of revenge reform against what they call the oligarchy”he assured EL TIEMPO in an interview that was published on Sunday.
According to Barreras, the reform, which is one of the most important of the Government, the figure of the EPS disappearssomething that, in his opinion, was not what President Petro intended, for which he considers that the head of the Health portfolio disavowed the president.
“I believe that Minister Corcho disavowed the President, because two weeks ago a positive step was taken towards the transition. The President is going to defend, and I accompany him in that, a health reform that makes a fairer system, but the President and the government announced that the EPS would not disappear. There are 30 years of experience in quality systems, in online information systems, in drug distribution systems, in network administration systems and in effective results”Barreras commented.

Corcho has been supported by other members of the Pact, such as former senator Gustavo Bolívar, who, after the interview with the president of Congress, with whom he has obvious differences, asserted that the minister did not give in to Barreras’ interests.
“Carolina Corcho is an intelligent, brave, empowered woman and does not improvise. She prepared to transform health. Roy Barreras’s attacks are due to the fact that she, like few others in the Government and in Congress, stood on the line and did not yields to the multiple interests that he represents,” Bolívar asserted.
