Up to now, four meetings have been held and, in addition, the subcommittee meetings in order to see the proposals to provide solutions to each of the priorities.
The caciques, leaders and directors of the 12 territories and 7 native peoples of the country continue with the meetings of the High-Level Inter-institutional Commission where different issues that affect the indigenous territories are addressed.
As explained by the Deputy Minister of Indigenous Affairs, Ausencio Palacios, at the request of the traditional authorities of the 12 territories, the Minister of Government, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, installed a High Level Commission to address the priorities of each territory of the seven original peoples.
“In the meetings, the request for titling of collective lands in several territories, eviction of the settlers who are within the collective territory and within the comarcas have been addressed; also, meetings have been established with institutions such as ANATI, MiAmbiente and others to develop a bit of the strategy that will be followed to materialize the request of the authorities and also, we met with the Foreign Ministry to discuss the issue of the Court’s ruling Inter-American where some polygons in the area of the Madungandí and Alto Bayano comarca have to be cleaned up,” said the Deputy Minister of Indigenous Affairs.

“We, on behalf of President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen and the Minister of Government, have been following up on what was agreed and we are making progress. It is expected that there will soon be some positive responses for each of the original territories”, concluded Palacios.
