Health workers, residents and attendees of Buenos Aires hospitals held a meeting this Friday with authorities of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health in which they received the offer to “advance” the increase of 15,000 pesos that had already been agreed upon, and in view of this proposal, the sector announced that they will decide in an assembly “how to continue” with the plan of struggle.
“They once again offered the increase of 15,000 pesos. The only novelty is that they proposed to bring it forward to collect it now in November instead of December. In some media it is being reported that we are going to collect 197,000 pesos and that lends itself to confusion because that The sum does not include the discounts that appear on our receipts. The proposal was once again only 162 thousand in hand, “explained Vanesa Fauda, spokeswoman for this sector of CABA health workers.
In addition, Fauda maintained that “all the other proposals” expressed by the delegates were not contemplated by the Buenos Aires authorities and that now they are going to vote in an assembly “how to continue” with the plan of struggle.
“They tell us that there is nothing discussed and that they would see if they commit to a new meeting next week”he pointed.
As of 2:00 p.m., the health workers were summoned to a new meeting with the Buenos Aires Minister Fernán Quirós, however “they were not received” by him and -instead- they met with the Undersecretary of Health Planning and Network Management Daniel Carlos Ferrante, reported the resident of the Sardá Maternity, Carina Goya, to Télam.
Within the framework of a plan of struggle demanding an increase in wages “that raises salaries to at least 200,000 pesos”the workers called for a cessation of activities this Friday with a concentration in the vicinity of the Buenos Aires Obelisk and marched to the headquarters of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health where the meeting was held.
Meanwhile, the workers gathered outside the Ministry waiting for the meeting to end,
“We made a total cut in the 9 de Julio. We are waiting outside to see how to continue and consider going to increasingly forceful measures,” the resident of the Pedro de Elizalde Children’s Hospital, Melina Michniuk, explained to Télam.
In this framework, he highlighted the accompaniment of different sectors and the “unity of the entire health team” to carry out this fight plan.
“Today residents of the Nation came to hospital wards and that is the unit we want to continue defending public health,” he remarked.
On Thursday, the workers of the sector, concentrated in the vicinity of the Buenos Aires Obelisk where they held an assembly and later marched to the headquarters of the Association of Municipal Doctors (AMM), where they analyzed “together” the steps to follow, within the framework of the plan of struggle in claim to the Government of the City of Buenos Aires (Caba) for wage increases and other labor demands.
