Care cuts: the new meat price agreement began to govern

The meat remained with stable values ​​in the last month

The behavior of beef prices showed small differences in the different geographical areas.

The prices of the different cuts of beef registered stable values, in July 2022 compared to June, and in relation to July 2021 they showed a rise of 59.6%, according to a report from the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA).

In this sense, beef in July remained with slight increases of 1% in the points of sale that serve neighborhoods with a high socioeconomic level, in medium socioeconomic sectors they remained stable (0%); while in those that attend to the low socioeconomic level, prices were reduced slightly by 0.6%, the document indicates.

In other words, the behavior of beef prices showed small differences between the different geographical areas.

In the Federal Capital, the western and southern zones of the GBA registered slight falls in prices; while there were slight increases in the northern zone of the GBA.

The entity also specified that, in July, the average price of a kilo of roast fell 0.5% compared to June, reaching -0.9% and -0.3% per month in the case of the rump and buttocks, respectively.

For its part, steer meat showed slight falls in its prices (-0.2%) in relation to the previous month, and heifer and calf meat showed a slight rise, which resulted in a (+0.4%) , compared to June.

Meanwhile, common minced meat registered a monthly increase of 1.2% in its price and the value of the shoulder did the same by 0.6%.

Likewise, there were moderate increases in the price of fresh chicken with a variation of 4.3% in the month of July compared to June, and the price of pork breast showed significant increases in the same period, advancing 7.9%. relative to the previous month.

Therefore, chicken increased its price by 85.8% and pork by 65.8%, compared to the values ​​of July 2021.

As for prices, they showed slight increases, of (+0.6%), with respect to the previous month in butcher shops; while in supermarkets prices with slight to moderate falls were observed, of (-1.5%).

Finally, the average consumption of beef per inhabitant was equivalent to 46.9 kg/year, which was 0.3% lower than twelve months ago and 9.1% lower than in July 2019.
