The Mazatlan of the Spanish coach Beñat San José defeated America 2-1 on Wednesday Argentinean Santiago Solari and bottomed out in the tournament Closure 2022 of Mexican soccer. In a match postponed from the second day of the championship, Mazatlan won with goals from Argentine Gonzalo Sosa and Mexican Miguel Sansores, while America responded with goals from Colombian Juan Ferney Otero.
Mazatlan arrived inspired after beating Tijuana last Friday; he stood up well to the defense and in the 11th minute he took advantage; Iván Moreno finished off, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa left the ball loose in the area and bland he put it in the net for 1-0. The Eagles did not react to a rival that maintained tactical discipline; in minute 33 the Chilean defender Nicolás Díaz put a ball to Sensorswho finished off from the right and increased the advantage.

America pressed. A skirmish stopped the match for a few minutes, but Mazatlan held on and added its second win of the contest after three losses to climb from fifteenth to tenth place. The Águilas de Solari, former coach of Real Madrid, dropped to fourteenth place with 10 goals conceded, the third worst defense of the tournament. America added its third setback with a victory in the last four outings and with four points, it is seven behind the leader Puebla. On the sixth day of the championship, next Saturday Mazatlán will visit Querétaro, third from last in the table, and on Sunday América will host Pachuca, third in the standings.
