This Tuesday, the Santa Cruz Mayor’s Office reinforced control operations on the streets to avoid improper charges on public transportation. José Carlos Cuéllar, municipal secretary of Transit and Transportation, assured that The current rate of Bs 2 is maintained and that users should not pay more, as long as there is no official resolution from the Municipal Executive.
“We are controlling that the current law is complied with. The rate is Bs 2, and we ask citizens not to pay higher amounts. We have already issued 120 notifications in the last few weeks”Cuéllar indicated from an operation in the Mutualist market.
Threat of indefinite unemployment
Despite municipal controls, transporters insist on increasing fares and warn of pressure measures. Bismark Daza, leader of the sector, stated that This Wednesday, December 11, there will be an expanded departmental where an indefinite strike and blockades could be defined.
“Transportation needs solutions. We have given a fourth intermission, but they have not listened to us. Tomorrow the bases will decide our next actions, and We do not rule out a total strike”Daza warned.
What the regulations say
The Municipal Government recalled that any adjustment in the rate must be approved by the Council. Meanwhile, The operations will continue in different parts of the city to guarantee compliance with the law and protect the rights of users.
“As long as we have nothing approved, the law is in force and
the rate remains at Bs 2″, Cuellar said.
