The mayor of the commune of El Monte, Francisco Gómez Ramírez (PS), died this morning in a traffic accident, when he crossed the axis of the road on the Paico Alto road and fell into an irrigation canal, reported Radio Bío Bío.
Firefighters volunteers came to the place, who began the first work in the sector. It is estimated that no other vehicles were involved.
The SIAT carries out the first steps to determine the causes of this fatal accident, which mourns the community of the province of Talagante.
“There are some signs that he lost control of the mobile,” said Colonel Juan Carlos Rodríguez, prefect of Traffic and Highways of Carabineros.

“With immense sadness we must confirm that this morning the mayor of our commune, Francisco Gómez Ramírez, has died in a traffic accident in the Paico Alto sector. We have no words to express the pain and sorrow in the face of such painful news”, they expressed from the municipality.
From the Presidential Delegation of Talagante, they delivered their condolences.
“It is with dismay and sadness that we have learned of the sensitive passing of the mayor of El Monte, Francisco Gómez. The delegate Stephanie Duarte and officials of the delegation send our condolences to her family, to the Municipality of El Monte and to the entire Montino community”, they affirmed.
Francisco Gómez led the El Monte commune for 8 years in the 2000s and then in another period for the last 9 years. He was also currently serving as president of the Association of Rural Municipalities.
