The mayor of the municipality of Aguachica Cesar, Víctor Julio Roqueme Quiñonez, passed away this Tuesday, August 20, in a clinic in Bucaramanga (Santander).
Roqueme Quiñonez was a civil engineer who graduated from the Francisco de Paula Santander University and in the elections he obtained 22,995 votes to be chosen to lead his town.
The young 26-year-old politician from Cesar, one of the youngest mayors in the country, died in circumstances that have not yet been clarified, but it is known that before the electoral campaign that led him to occupy the most important position in the municipality, he had been diagnosed with leukemiaaccording to local media reports.
Since last Thursday, during the festivities in the municipality of Aguachica, the second most important municipality in the department of Cesar, he felt ill and traveled to the capital of Santander to receive medical assistance. On Tuesday afternoon, his condition worsened and he died.
The mayor’s last post was last Friday when he celebrated the 276th anniversary of Aguachica, Cesar, and he was photographed with a large commemorative cake for the special date.
Following the sudden death of President Víctor Roqueme, Aguachiquenses are heartbroken and filled with sadness in the second largest municipality in the department of Cesar.
