The mayor Gabbiani calls for "recovery of beaches in Nueva Palmira." Repeated questions that no one answers

“We are extremely concerned about the advance of the reeds and the gradual disappearance of the beaches in Nueva Palmira, which, if they continue in this way, will be non-existent in a short time. We request the Executive (Departmental) an exhaustive analysis of the situation and the corresponding conditioning so that the aforementioned coasts are recovered for the enjoyment of Palmyrenees and visitors. We entrust the follow-up to the Hygiene and Environment Commission, ”said the mayor of Ciudadanos (PC), Gabriel Gabbiani at the Colonia Departmental Board.

More proposals

Months ago, the departmental mayor, Hébert Márquez (FA), using Google Earth from 2003, and a drone, witnessed in images the loss of sand and the advance of reeds, leaving Nueva Palmira with a scant strip of beach. He presented the material to the Departmental Board, which decided to submit the reports to Hydrography and the Ministry of the Environment in search of a solution. Nobody answered.

For her part, the councilor also for Ciudadanos, Malvina Sarett, along the same lines as the previous councilors, requested a study of the Palmyrene coast, affected by erosion. She didn’t have an answer either.
