For the second consecutive day, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador supervised the works of the Mayan Train. He stressed that the project presents a 50 percent advance between Mérida and Cancún, while, in the face of the protections presented by some organizations against it, he endorsed that the people of this region support the project.

The Mérida-Cancún section of the Mayan Train is 50 percent complete. We have to face protections and ambitions from conservatives and corrupt, but the people want and support this great work to promote the development of the southeast of the country. One fact: 48,000 tourists arrive in Quintana Roo every daythe president said yesterday on his Twitter account.

The message was accompanied by a 41-second video in which the head of the federal Executive is observed inside a military helicopter during the tour carried out on Sunday.

As part of his work tour that he carried out this weekend in the southeast of the country, the President supervised on Saturday the section of the Mayan Train that goes from Palenque to Mérida, while on Friday he inaugurated the first phase of the Olmec Refinery, in Dos Bocas, in Tabasco, an act in which he was accompanied by his cabinet and just over a hundred guests.
