The MAS will modify several of its statutes and will call for the primaries to be held at the party’s fifteenth extraordinary convention in July, and whose task will be to elect the new organizations and leaders throughout the country.
The second day of the Extraordinary National Convention of the Movement for Socialism MAS continued the debate “on all the matters that political parties have the obligation to discuss,” according to its secretary general, Felipe Mujica.
He stressed that on this second day The modernization and transformation of the MAS as a political structure was discussed, as well as matters related to its statutes. “The purpose is to debate for three days and approve modifications from which the call for the fifteenth extraordinary Convention of the MAS in July will come, whose task will be to produce the election of the new organizations and leaders throughout the country.”
According to a press release from the political party, Mujica announced that before July the registration of militants will begin and later the national electoral commission of the orange awning will set the date for primaries in order to elect the regional directorates, the delegates to the National Convention, the National Directorate of the MAS and nominal charges that are also chosen.
«The MAS has been characterized throughout its history for being a party that debates, as Pompeyo Marquéz said, in addition, we have always carried out the internal processes in due time and in each of them we carry out the elections of the authorities as we will do in the coming months,” Mujica specified.
For her part, María Verdeal, national vice president of the party of the fist, pointed out that during the first day of activities the directors of the extraordinary Convention were sworn in and the political, social, modernization of the MAS work tables and the tables of the Electoral and Renewal Commission were installed and statutory reform.
He added that this Saturday, April 30, the third day of deliberations, “all the results and conclusions of each of the tables, the proposals and what will be approved will be presented to the convention plenary, which will later be announced to the country”.
Verdeal explained that more than 152 delegates from all over the national territory participate in the extraordinary national convention. “Previously we made some zonal events throughout the country that were registered before the media, necessary steps to conclude in the fifteenth convention that will be after July and September when the national convention is installed again.”
