AREQUIPA, Peru – A study conducted by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the official Center for Sociopolitical and Opinion Studies (CESPO) indicates that the majority of Cubans support the so-called “revolution” and its leaders.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, reported the results of the alleged study during the IX Plenary Session of the communist party.
According to the leader of the Cuban regime, quoted by the daily state Granmathe analysis of the sociopolitical climate ratifies “the majority support for the Revolution, its leaders and the pride of being Cuban”; as well as the status of “references” of the late dictator Fidel Castro and his brother Raúl.
At the same time, the report recognizes that the Cuban population presents dissatisfaction associated with material deficiencies, high prices, insufficiencies in food, progressive loss of the purchasing value of salary, the Health system, transportation, public procedures and housing problems. .
However, Morales Ojeda pointed out that the people support the leadership of the PCC despite the “internal obstacles and weaknesses” that, although they cause “a lot of damage and slow down the advance” are accentuated by “enemy propaganda.”
In the midst of the aggravated crisis suffered by Cubans on the Island, marked by food shortages, inflation, medicines, electrical outages and other services, the official discourse of the Cuban regime is committed to an increase in political propaganda and indoctrination.
“Ideological work is as necessary and important as ever before,” said the secretary.
Although there are no short-term improvements in the country’s economic situation, Castro’s discourse recounts the achievements and positive results based on bureaucratic statistics.
In this regard, Morales Ojeda highlighted that at the end of November the work system and the visits of the auxiliary structure of the Central Committee had reached 101 municipalities and more than 200,000 people.
Likewise, he celebrated as “a milestone in the stage” the assurance of the “process of accountability of the delegate to his constituents”, with an alleged 77% attendance of the people and 168,536 proposals formulated.
The Communist Party of Cuba, the only one that exists and is allowed by the dictatorship on the Island, uses its propaganda media to reduce the impact of the crisis, sweeten the Cuban reality and legitimize itself in the face of international opinion based on false popular support. .
In contrast, the working group on politically motivated arrests Justice 11J confirmed last month that, in Cuba, at least 70 public demonstrations occurred in less than 3 weeks after the total collapse of the National Electric System (SEN) on October 18.
According to the NGO, after the passage of Hurricane Rafael on November 6, the situation worsened even more: “After the passage of Hurricane Rafael, there have been 14 of these protests and at least 17 arbitrary arrests.”
The demonstrations have taken place in various provinces of the country: Justicia 11J has registered protests in Artemisa, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Granma, Guantánamo, Holguín, Havana, Mayabeque, Sancti Spíritus, Santiago de Cuba and Villa Clara.
Beyond the rhetoric of the Cuban regime, the country is cracking from all areas. Demographics have decreased drastically in recent years with the largest exodus in national history, social evils such as violence and drug use proliferate, the collapse of the energy system keeps the economy in check, while State repression against civic demonstrations of social discontent.
