At the end of December of last year, after the plenary session of the Congress approved in the first vote the advancement of general elections to April 2024, the Constitution and Regulation Commission reported that it would prioritize bills related to electoral reforms.
Along these lines, since January, the group chaired by congressman Hernando Guerra Garcia (FP) has received experts from all sectors, including lawyers, former presidents of the Constitutional Court and heads of organized civil groups to find out what reforms should be approved before the end of the current legislature.
In this way, these political reforms may be submitted to a second vote in plenary in the incoming legislature, so that they enter into force for the next general elections in 2024.
“We have decided to listen to different voices and we are going to prioritize the reforms that we believe are most important based on what has been presented to the Commission in recent weeks.”, Guerra García maintained.
