The president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorand its Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petrobegan an official meeting this Friday in the Mexican capital in which they seek to strengthen the bilateral relationship and discuss drugs and migration.
López Obrador received the Colombian president at the main door of the National Palace, from where they moved to the central patio of the building and solemnly sang the anthems of both nations.
After the protocol act, both leaders shook hands and headed to the room where they will hold the meeting, which was also joined by the Secretary of the Interior of Mexico, Adán Augusto López, and the foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard.
Petro arrived in Mexico City on Thursday for his first official visit to the country and his first meeting with the Mexican president. After this meeting, Petro will have an extended meeting of the delegations of Colombia and Mexico.

Among the main topics of the visit of the Petro to Mexico there is the migration situation of Colombians residing in or visiting that country and the treatment received by Colombian tourists at Mexican airports.
For this reason, he will also hold a meeting at the Colombian Consulate in Mexico City, for a personal review of the situation.
On Thursday night, in a private meeting to which EFE had access, Petro announced that he would ask Mexico join a call for a high-level meeting in America to change the region’s drug policy.
