On this Sunday morning The former president of the Supreme Court of Justice and current magistrate of the Labor Cassation Chamber, Jorge Luis Quiroz Alemán, passed away in Bogotá, after facing health problems.
The experienced lawyer was born in the municipality of Ayapel (Córdoba), He grew up and lived there until he moved to the city of Bogotá, where he began his law studies at the Catholic University of Colombia.
He was also trained in Labor Law and Social Security at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and in Administrative Law and Constitutional Law at the Universidad del Rosario.
The experienced lawyer was essential for the digitization of audiences in 2020, when the covid-19 pandemic arrived in the country and he was the president of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Precisely, the Corporation issued a statement lamenting the death of Judge Quiroz. “The highest court of the Ordinary Jurisdiction, the Judicial Branch and the country they lose an excellent jurist and a great human being, who devoted himself with passion and generosity to the exercise of law and justice until the last days of his life”, to parts of the communication of the Supreme Court of Justice.
In the same sense, they expressed their feelings of solidarity with the magistrate’s family and his friends. They also recalled that “his work activity was dedicated to the exercise of law as head of the Legal Office, professional and advisor to the Ministry of Labor, labor judge of the circuit, magistrate of the Superior Court of Bogotá and auxiliary magistrate of the Labor Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice”.

In 2016, he took office as titular magistrate of the Labor Cassation Chamber. “The body of Judge Quiroz Alemán will be veiled in a burning chamber in the facilities of the Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Justice from 10:00 am this Monday, January 31,” said the Supreme Court of Justice.
