In Puerto Yuma, Barrancabermeja, the searching river route was launched, an initiative of the Personal Search Unit given by missing (UBPD) that will travel for 21 days the Magdalena River in four departments of the country. This process seeks to approach the riverside communities and strengthen the hope of finding thousands of victims of the armed conflict that still remain missing.

The route will cross municipalities of Santander, Bolívar, Magdalena and Cesar, territories deeply beaten by violence and forced disappearance. The river, which for years was horror scenario, is now transformed into a space of memory, truth and dignification for those who still expect news of their loved ones.

Victims of armed conflict, state institutions and social organizations participated in the opening ceremony. For many of them, the beginning of this journey represents a new opportunity to make visible the tragedy of forced disappearance and demand concrete responses to a historical debt that the country has with thousands of families.
The UBPD stressed that, in addition to symbolic and commemorative acts, the river route will allow to collect key information from communities about possible burial sites or facts related to the disappearance. This exchange seeks to add voices and testimonies that contribute to clarifying the truth.
The relatives of the victims highlighted the importance of the State being present in these territories, not only with security or justice measures, but also with actions that recognize the pain and resistance of those who have charged for decades with uncertainty. For them, the tour of the Magdalena River is also a tribute to memory.
The river route seek thus becomes an act of resistance and hope, which dignifies the disappeared and opens a path of accompaniment to their families. It is, at the same time, an opportunity for the country to face its past and reaffirm the commitment not to forget, seek the truth and sow peace in the midst of history marked by violence.
