Together for Change with vernacular opposition leaders and the Venezuelan opposition filed a complaint with the Argentine Judiciary against the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro; from Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel; and from Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega (whom they described as “dictators”) for international complaints about human rights violations in their respective countries.
The VII Summit of Celac Heads of State and Government will meet next week in Argentina, where 33 countries of the region will participate, including the return of Brazil to the regional forum with the presence of Luis Inacio “Lula” da Silva.
International alignments are part of the electoral and political bid in Argentina. The main opposition alliance raised as a banner of criticism the alleged “international isolation” of the country every time Peronism was in charge of the Casa Rosada, while they devalued Mercosur and celebrated the collapse of Unasur and forged neoliberal regional forums when were government, highlights Page 12.
The novelty, this time, was to judicialize international relations with complaints against heads of other States in the framework of a regional forum.
From the Foreign Ministry they maintain that the complaint has no legal basis, nor could requests to prevent the entry of the Presidents or retain them in the country prosper. “Official flights often serve as airborne embassies in terms of immunity,” they explain. Even so, and in the midst of the scenario of conflict with the Judiciary, no one seems calm: “All the State offices are closely following the issue -they explained-, the Ministry of Justice, Defense, Foreign Relations and the Attorney General”.
Denounce the Argentine Forum
The high-impact complaint was presented by the so-called Argentine Forum for Democracy in the Region (FADER) that exposed in the letter “the violations of international law” in which Maduro, Díaz Canel and Ortega would have incurred. Although the complainants did not disclose the objectives proposed by the presentation or the legal grounds that (hardly) could prevent the arrival of the three leaders in Argentina.
“Fader wants to express his deep concern about the invitation that President Alberto Fernández made to these 3 dictators, stating that it is a provocation for all of Argentine society that respects, values and wants to live in a democracy,” says one of his paragraphs with more tone political than legal.

The national deputies of the UCR also did the same but on the political level, where through a statement they “reject” the presence of Maduro, Díaz Canel and Ortega at the Celac summit. Although the text has the same tone as the complaint:
“Their presence is a provocation to our country, to the democracies of Latin America, and above all to the Venezuelan, Nicaraguan and Cuban citizens who, fleeing from repression and hunger, sought to start a different life in Argentina.”
And they continue: “This year, Argentina celebrates 40 years of uninterrupted democracy. In this sense, the presence of Maduro, Ortega, and Díaz-Canel in our country is a clear setback that forces us to remain alert in defense of democracy, human rights, and the National Constitution,” affirmed the same radical deputies who refused to to recognize the coup d’état in Bolivia against Evo Morales and much less to pronounce on the smuggling of arms by the Macrista government to support the uprising.
Interference does not stop
Katu Arkonada, a member of the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity, made the complaint in an article entitled “From FTAA to CELAC, US interference does not stop,” published on the website of the PSUV’s International Solidarity Communication Brigades. , quoted by Prensa Latina.
Arkonada revealed that to execute the plan, funds from United States federal agencies will be used, and others destined for social projects of the Organization of American States, to finance the transfer to Buenos Aires of elements of the Latin American ultra-right, in order to carry out actions in the context of the meeting.
The former adviser to the Bolivian Foreign Ministry pointed out that given the complex situation that Cuba’s official airline is going through as a result of the blockade and the possibility of using a Russian or Venezuelan aircraft, they are exploring “a legal maneuver to retain the plane.” .
He recalled that it would be similar to what happened recently with the Venezuelan-Iranian cargo plane of the Emtrasur company, which is still being held captive in Argentina.
Another maneuver would be directed, he pointed out, to mobilize counterrevolutionary Cubans, Argentines and people of other nationalities in Buenos Aires, to demonstrate in front of the embassies of the aforementioned countries.
The political scientist pointed out that, as happened at the previous summit in Mexico, the intention is to use the contacts of the counterrevolutionary of Cuban origin Rosa María Payá with the president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, to reissue the attacks against Cuba during the meeting.
They are also taking steps with the delegations of Paraguay and Ecuador so that in the context of the Summit they make statements against the governments described as “dictatorial,” he said.
Among those who are planning the attacks against Celac, Arkonada mentioned the well-known counterrevolutionaries Orlando Gutiérrez Boronat, president of the Cuban Democratic Directorate, and Luis Manuel de la Caridad Zuñiga Rey, a former CIA agent.
Also included are Tomás Pedro Regalado y Valdez, former mayor of Miami; Gabriel Salvia, president of the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America Foundation; Rosa María Payá, supported by Marcos Rubio and Luis Almagro, and Agustín Antonetti, coordinator of the youth group of Fundación Libertad, and others.
