The Lord of Miracles is celebrated with fervor throughout Peru: this is how the regions experience the Purple Month

The image of Lord of Miraclesa symbol of faith, union and hope of the Peruvian people, not only attracts crowds in the capital, but also in the main regions of the country. From Arequipa to Piura, thousands of faithful celebrate the Purple Month with processions, masses and cultural manifestations that preserve their own local particularities.

Arequipa: 75 years of devotion in the White City

The Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles of Arequipafounded 75 years ago in the Temple of San Agustín, today brings together more than 1,500 members. This 2025, the first procession took place on October 1, and the next departures will be on the days October 18, 19, 20, 21 and 28visiting emblematic streets such as San Agustín, Santa Catalina, Bolívar and the Malecón Socabaya.

Cajamarca: faith that travels to the heights

In Cajamarca, the litters of the purple Christ leave from the San Antonio de Padua Temple with scheduled processions October 4, 5, 18 and November 1. The Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles, with 70 years of history, keeps the tradition alive with tours through the main streets of the historic center and a massive participation of faithful.

Cusco: the “Protector and Pilgrim of Cusco”

In the Imperial City, the image of the Lord of Miracles—a replica of the one venerated in Lima—is known as the “Protector and Pilgrim of Cusco”. Its three processions will take place on the days October 18, 25 and November 1starting from Temple of San Francisco de Asís and visiting historical temples such as Santa Catalina and Santa Clara.

Lambayeque: 118 years of uninterrupted faith

Chiclayo, capital of Lambayeque, experiences one of the busiest celebrations in the north. Since 1907, the replica donated by Carmela Delgado from Aspíllaga gathers crowds. This year they have scheduled five processions (October 4, 18, 19 and 25, and November 1), with masses in the Chiclayo Cathedral and tours of emblematic avenues such as José Balta, San José and Luis Gonzales.

Piura: the Christ of the eternal sun

In Piura, the image of the dark Christ will go out in procession on October 18, 19 and 25starting from the Piura Cathedral Basilica. The festival, organized by the Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles of Piurawith 77 years of tradition, includes symbolic visits to the Jorge Reategui Hospital and a central mass presided over by Archbishop José Antonio Eguren.

Tacna: a tradition that unites faith and civility

The Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles of Tacnafounded in 1959, has organized novenas, masses and processions since Tacna Cathedral. This year, the main activities will take place on October 18, 28 and 30touring avenues such as Bolognesi, San Martín and Paseo Cívico, with tributes from public institutions and local unions.

Junín: devotion in the Incontrovertible City

In Huancayofive processions will be held from the Church of the Immaculate Conceptionthe main ones being October 18, 25, 26 and November 1. The local brotherhood includes children’s groups that actively participate in the celebrations, an example of the generational transmission of the faith.

Huánuco: fervor in the City of the Knights of León

In Huánuco, the venerated image of the purple Christ will go out in procession on October 18after the central mass in the San Francisco Parish. Thousands of devotees accompany the litters on a journey that culminates with displays of faith and traditional songs.

From the Andes to the northern coast, the Lord of Miracles once again walks the streets of the country, remembering that the Purple Month It is much more than a Lima tradition: it is a national expression of faith that unites hearts and transcends generations.
