The neighborhood letter includes a wide variety of orders, from road infrastructure to public services, safety, lighting and environmental preservation. Among the outstanding demands are: the recovery of the Laguna de Solís, the repair of streets – with emphasis on the revituminization of Antonio Rodríguez Goya and the access to the cannon (Rivera drums) -, greater police presence, installation of a playground, cleaning of gutters, more lighting and garbage taches, as well as the general beautification of the neighborhood and its coastal area.
The need to manage the drinking water supply through OSE was also raised, and a proposal to change the name of the current streets, identified with letters, by names of native flora and fauna, an initiative presented by a recently deceased neighbor.
Municipality response
During the last session the local council approached several points raised. Mayor Andrés Passarino reported that certain works have already begun, such as the street pothole. In relation to drinking water, he indicated that the municipality was contacted by OSE, which is making a population survey with a view to extending the network to Punta Gorda.
Also, Passarino referred to an issue that was not part of the neighborhood claim: the presence of illegal constructions in the coastal area, particularly from the area known as the large stone. “We don’t know how Prefecture allows it,” the mayor questioned.
In this context, councilor Carlos Pinazo proposed to invite prefecture and the National Directorates of Hydrography and Tourism, with the aim of addressing not only illegal constructions, but also coastal erosion and the need to develop tourist Punta Gorda.
Councilor Raúl Gaona, on the other hand, recalled that several of these claims had already been made in the previous administration, without obtaining an answer.
Also present at the session were the councilors in front of Andrés Fassi and Sebastián Sayas.
A clear request for attention and action
The community of Punta Gorda expects its demands to be considered with the seriousness and urgency they merit. “We want these points to be taken into account shortly,” concludes the note presented by residents of the spa.
