The General Confederation of Labor (CGT), a union that brings together a large group of workers in the country, sent a letter to the new Minister of Labor, Antonio Sanguino, in which he celebrates his appointment and expresses his support to defend the social reforms of the Government, especially labor reform.

In the letter, the CTG also denounced a scale of mass layoffs, trade union persecution and ignorance of labor rights in several sectors.
Given this situation, the workers asked the new minister to attend complaints and avoid employment losses.
The letter details some specific cases of companies that would be violating the right of collaborators.

Seven complaints
The CGT denounced the case of Sintracolechra and said that in this Barranquilla cooperative “There is a clear anti -union policy. Payments of premiums, aid and unemployment have been denied, weakening the union”.
He also mentioned the case of Claro Colombia in which he warns that more than 300 workers have been fired “In an obvious anti -union attack. The CGT demands its labor reintegration and that labor rights and well -being of 300 families are respected”.

The union also told the new minister his rejection of a possible sale of monomers and said he opposes the privatization of the company by the Venezuelan government.
“This would affect the food sovereignty and labor rights of our colleagues. We ask our government to acquire the company to strengthen Colombian agriculture”.
The workers’ central also denounced “A clear and flagrant union persecution” against Emcali workers by the company’s management. “We pray to the Labor Minister to protect the rights of our colleagues”.
In other cases, the CGT denounced violations of workers’ rights in D1, National Printing, Migration Colombia, Fontur and Sintrapostal and asked the new Minister of Labor Dialogue already.
