Bolivia will visit Chile on Tuesday (17:00 HB) for the eighth date of the Qualifiers with the mission of adding points to continue climbing the standings and also to change history, since the Verde never won on the Roja’s territory when they faced each other in a pre-World Cup stage.
Of the eight visits that the Bolivian team made to Chile in the qualifiers, it lost six and managed only two draws. Coincidentally, The last match between these two teams on Chilean soil ended in a draw one goal per side.
That tie was recorded on Tuesday, June 8, 2021for the eighth date of the Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers and was played at the San Carlos de Apoquindo stadium.
Bolivia at that time was technically led by César Farías and the starting eleven consisted of Carlos Lampe, Diego Bejarano, Luis Haquin, Adrian Jusino, Jose Sagredo, Danny Bejarano, Boris Cespedes, Leonel Justiniano, Henry Vaca, Marcelo Martins and Rodrigo Ramallo.
In the second half they made their entrance Jorge Flores, Diego Wayar, Erwin Junior Sanchez, Gilbert Alvarez and Juan Carlos Arce.
The locals took the lead through Erick Pulgar (69′), who headed in a cross sent in by Charles Aránguiz. The Verde’s equaliser was scored by Marcelo Martins (81′), through a penalty awarded by Paraguayan referee Eber Aquino.
Of that team that stole a tie three years and three months ago, the only ‘survivors’ in the Bolivian team are Carlos Lampe, Luis Haquin, Jose Sagredo and Henry Vaca, who were starters in that contest.
For their part, Roberto Carlos Fernández and Ramiro Vaca were on the bench on that occasion, but César Farías did not give them minutes and Vaca will not have them again this Tuesday, because he is suspended for one match due to accumulation of yellow cards.
The bad thing was that in the rematch, played on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, on the 16th date of that Qualifier, Chile beat Bolivia at the Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz by 2-3. The first half had the same result as the first leg, as they went into the break tied 1-1.
