The Last Dance? Mario Desbordes assures that Sebastián Piñera wants to return “in 4 more years” to La Moneda

Mario Desbordes, former president of Renovación Nacional, assured that Sebastián Piñera wants to return to the Palacio de La Moneda as president.

In a conversation with Chilevisión/CNN Chile, Desbordes said that Piñera intends to run again as a presidential candidate in four more years, and that the crisis in Chile Vamos -originated after the election of Álvaro Elizalde as president of the Senate- favors him to set yourself up as a leader.

“He wants to return in four more years, but do not count on me (…) It is part of his legitimate aspiration and ambition, but I do not share it. I will not accompany him in that because what happened in this government shows us that we have to separate waters, we think and feel very differently,” he said.

“He wants to come back in 4 more years, so this mess allows him to establish himself as a person above the small fights of the coalition,” he added.

The former parliamentarian stated that he had “no doubt” about the intentions of the former president since “I know him very well. He has always insisted, half jokingly, half seriously, that they are going to have to take him horizontally out of this issue and he always cites Central American presidents. But that’s fine, it’s part of his legitimate aspiration and ambition. I do not share it, I am not going to accompany him in that ”.
