The knowledge economy: facing the challenge of training and adaptability

‘There is impressive potential’

Jiménez also said he was very optimistic about new technologies, as he sees a “very impressive” potential in Mexico, although he stressed the need to simultaneously promote clean energy and lower the carbon footprint.

“We took it (changes) in an excellent way, artificial intelligence is a strategic ally. We share optimism. (But) it is a shared responsibility, we also have to make them affordable to the institutions,” he mentioned.

He acknowledged that there is a lack of dissemination, even though “talent exists,” and proposed greater collaboration between companies and higher education institutions, for example, to certify students and researchers and update study plans.

“The challenge is also to be able to determine and design this content syllabus so that students can take advantage of it in a better way,” added Jiménez.

Technology is neither good nor bad, it depends on the use that is given to it.

Marco Casarín, general director of Meta México, considered that the use of technology is neither good nor bad, it all depends on the use to which it is given. For example, today the knowledge economy is accelerating and is allowing great developments.

“I do not consider that technology itself, per se, just like science, knowledge is good or bad, it is the use we give it that is correct, that generates well-being,” he indicated.

In the case of Meta, he exemplified, they have helped the community of 4,000 million people create meaningful connections, which are based on value.

“We are working so that this artificial intelligence is somehow integrated, safe, and affordable for all people,” he highlighted.

He considered that thanks to technology and artificial intelligence, knowledge is increasingly accessible, but now the challenge is to put it into practice.

“Today data, analytics, how that is translated into information, is simpler than before. Therefore, creating knowledge and going deeper is something that is going to be simplified, but that part of humanization comes, where we generate benefit and well-being and that is how you land your knowledge in the end you had a practical experience,” he indicated.

He added that, beyond technological skills, collaborators are required to have other skills such as the ability to self-criticize and investigate.
