The Buenos Aires Minister of Finance and Finance, Pablo López, highlighted this Wednesday “the notorious recovery” of the employment rate in the province of Buenos Aires, and remarked that “growth with inclusion is being achieved.”
In a series of tweets, the provincial official uploaded a graph from the Provincial Statistics Office made based on information from the Indec that reflects the numbers of the unemployment rate in the province of Buenos Aires.
“The evolution of the labor market in the Province is very encouraging: for the fourth consecutive period, the unemployment rate fell: 9.3%, the lowest value since the beginning of the series for a third quarter “, described, and highlighted that “all the main labor indicators improved.”
López accompanied the post with an image that shows that the unemployment rate in six urban agglomerates indicating that: in 2016 it was 10.3%; in 2017, 9.9%; in 2018, 10.9%; in 2019, 11.6%; in 2020, 13.9% and this year 9.3%.
“The recovery of the activity rate and, fundamentally, the employment rate in the Province is notorious,” he stated, and considered that “both indicators are representative of labor inclusion, which makes it possible to combine lower unemployment with a greater participation in the market “.

Along with this, he raised two graphs that indicate that the activity rate in the territory went from 45.7% in 2016; to 46.4% in 2017; to 46.9% in 2018; to 46.4% in 2019; to 40.1% in 2020; already 46% in 2021.
Refering to employment rate, the image reflects that it was from 41.1% in 2016; 41.8% in 2017; 41.8% in 2018; from 41% in 2019; 34.5% in 2020; and 41.7% this year.
“It is also important the improvement in the underemployment rate, which considers the employed population that cannot work the desired number of hours. The rate accumulates a 4.7 pp drop: after a peak of 17.1% in the fourth quarter of 2020, it reached a value of 12.4%, “the minister wrote.
Then, he stressed that “the Province represents 50% of the total employment in the country”, and he stated that, “therefore, an Argentina with more work needs a thriving Province.”
“The latest activity and employment data at the national level released by Indec indicate that we are managing to grow with inclusion,” concluded López.
