The Junín region is third in line to receive urea from the government

Junín is the third region with more farmers that will benefit from the purchase of urea by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). In the first place is Puno and then Huánuco. However, there is still no news of when it would arrive, there are no dates or deadlines for this long-awaited aid from the government of President Pedro Castillo to the agricultural sector.

Last week Midagri awarded the contract for the purchase of nitrogenous urea to the Kenyan company Prime Charter International LTD. This company must provide Peru with 44 thousand tons of fertilizer, in bags of 50 kilos each. This purchase demands an investment of 17 million 600 thousand soles from the state for the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.

There were 21 international companies that applied for this process.

in the Junin region.

According to the zonal head of the Rural Productive Agrarian Development Program (Agrorural), Renan Socualaya, to date there is still no communication from the central government to the headquarters regarding this acquisition. He believes that they wait first for the signing of the contract so that the logistical work can begin. Until yesterday, according to data from Agrorural, in Junín there were 63 thousand 964 farmers registered to receive this bonus that will be delivered to farmers whose land extension is a maximum of 5 hectares.

“In Junín we are waiting for the disposition. We have 4 warehouses, 7 peripheral warehouses and in the central jungle we are working with the municipalities of Pichanaqui, Satipo and Pangoa”, he said.

Socualaya also pointed out that it is the first time that the central government will provide this type of aid to farmers and that little experience has led to the delay, because the purchase could not only be international but also national businessmen. Junín has been demanding this subsidy from the government since April of this year.
