Federal judges and magistrates from all over the country voted overwhelmingly to continue to be suspended from work and will only attend to urgent cases, which means they have already been unemployed for two months.

The National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (Jufed) indicated that this decision, made in a vote in which 1,306 judges participated, reflects the unity with the movement of jurisdictional personnel and constitutes a forceful and energetic rejection of the recent actions of both the Senate, by holding an infamous raffle, in a show of mockery towards the national judges, and the Federal Judiciary Council, by not issue rules that give certainty to the rights of PJF holders.

The organization headed by Judge Juana Fuentes Velázquez reported that after consulting all the judges, it was determined maintain the partial suspension of jurisdictional work throughout the country. This protest measure will continue with exclusive attention to urgent cases, in accordance with the responsibility of guaranteeing access to justice in situations of greatest need..

As reported by Jufed, the results were the following: 809 judges voted for the continuation of the partial suspension of jurisdictional work, with attention to urgent cases, and 497 for the resumption, starting Monday, October 21.

The organization also rejected the expressions of President Claudia Sheinbaum, in the sense of not eliminating the publication of the judicial reform decree, considering that advances the failure to comply with a suspension order ordered by a federal judge, a discretion that the Constitution and its regulatory law does not recognize for the responsible authorities.

In response to the president’s statements, the Jufed mentions that In any democratic country that safeguards the rule of law, objections to judicial decisions are contested by exhausting the means of challenge, not by threats of complaints against the issuer, a situation that clearly demonstrates that in our country the constitutional order has been broken and the rule of law.

Furthermore, he expressed his support for the district judge, reminding her that has the support of the national board and all of its fellow federal judges.
