Comparsas and groups from Jujuy celebrated this Saturday with total hubbub the unearthing of the Carnival, a deeply rooted and popular festival in the province, where the Pujllay commanded the massive festivities after waking up from his long nap.

The dance, the song, the offerings to the Pachamama and other cultural expressions that claim this great ancestral celebration were part of the opening of the Great Carnival in Jujuy and the comparsas, obviously, were the central axes of the celebrations that were recorded throughout the city. and throughout the provincial territory.

The launch of the carnival filled with the public the most characteristic places of the ravine such as Humahuaca, Tilcara, Uquía, Purmamarca and Maimara, where supporters gathered around each milestone to share the party that It starts today and runs for nine days.

In the town of Uquía12 kilometers from Humahuaca, people gathered from 4:00 p.m. to carry out the chaya of the cairn, accompanied by a group of anatheros (the anata is an instrument closely linked to the carnivals of northern Argentina), along with other musicians and bands that performed the previous to the unearthing of the devil.

Beer, wine, chicha, talcum powder, foam, chopped paper, streamers, white and red wine, all this and much more, fell in the form of a blessing on the cairn and those that surround it, drums and trumpets sounded loudly, to unleash the craziness.

“The cairn is always chaya in carnival, more than anything with alcoholic beverages, and Mother Earth is asked to have a good carnival the nine days with fun and that nothing happens,” he told Télam Marina Flores, member of Los Corazones de Puya Puya de Uquía, one of the oldest comparsas in the area.

With their faces covered in talc, streamers and confetti, the protagonists celebrated the carnival and lined up behind the comparsa’s flag with which they later danced through the streets of the town.

in Uquia, The descent of the devils was carried out on a slope of Cerro Blancowhere the Hearts of Puya Puya participate with their costumes that are eagerly awaited by their supporters to continue the party.

Dressed and masked in their colorful mirrored costumes, the devils of Carnival are cheered and adored by the crowd. Although they are mostly large, there are also small and medium devils.

The troupes and groups are in charge of organizing their celebrations and this year due to the coronavirus pandemic they recommend the use of the chinstrap and that each participant drink from their own glass and not share.

Nearby, lThe comparsa Juventud Alegre de Humahuaca carried out the unearthing within the framework of the centenary of its creation.

“Joyful youth is, as its verses say, the comparsa of the town! But above all its things it is great for its disguises, for its devils, cucumbers, murgas, devils… They are its essence!”, expressed the entity in a Facebook post.

“Today the devil comes out and welcome to the largest troupe in northern Argentina,” he added.

Today at noon they shared the great centennial barbecue on their property in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood.
