At a time when the parties are lying in the streets in proselytizing acts before the electoral campaign officially begins for the 2024 elections, the Plenary of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) will meet today with the representatives of political organizations to socialize issues related to the next contest.
Although the call scheduled for today, at 2:00 in the afternoon, has nothing to do with the issue of regulating the untimely campaign of political parties, it is expected that the electoral body will rule on the matter.
The public hearing to be held this afternoon at the JCE has as an agenda item the challenge of the formation of the electoral boards that several parties objected to, after the body chose the authorities of those dependencies.
The challenges of the parties to the formation of the electoral boards were made against resolution 11-2022 dated April 29, 2022.
Concomitantly with this, the JCE is immersed in the socialization of the “Project for manual voting, manual counting, digitalization of results, signing of minutes, scanning and transmission of results for its possible implementation in the 2023 primaries and the 2024 Elections ”, with the presence of the different political parties, whose process began yesterday.
Socialization with the parties is carried out by a JCE commission made up of the National Director of Elections, Mario Núñez; the director of IT, Johnny Rivera and the director of political parties, Lenis García. These, according to a communication signed by the president of the body, Román Jáquez Liranzo, must meet with the party delegates and must present a report to the plenary session no later than mid-August.
