The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) announced today an increase in the value of the Tax Tax Unit (UIT) for next year. As of January 1, 2025, the ITU will reach S/ 5,350, which represents an increase of S/ 200 compared to the current value in 2024.
This measure, established through the Supreme Decree No. 260-2024-EFis based on the analysis of the country’s macroeconomic indicators. The ITU serves as a reference to calculate various tax aspects, such as taxes, fines, accounting obligations and other related procedures.
According to the legal norm, the increase in the UIT is justified by the need to update the reference values in the tax system, considering the evolution of the Peruvian economy.
The ITU has experienced constant growth in recent years, adapting to the variations in the Peruvian economy. From 2012 to 2024, the value of the ITU has gone from S/ 3,650 to S/ 5,150, respectively.
Why is ITU important?
The measure acquires great relevance for Peruvian citizens and companies, since said value works as a reference point in tax regulations. Its impact is reflected in fines, income tax and other taxes directed to the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat).
What is the ITU?
The Tax Tax Unit (UIT) represents the amount in soles set by the State, used to calculate taxes, penalties, fines and other tax aspects. Some figures are expressed in specific amounts (for example, 5 UIT) or as percentages (for example, 20% UIT).
It should be noted that the value of the ITU changes annually, applying from January 1 to December 31, and is determined by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
