On the occasion of the next start of classes scheduled for the first days of March, the Consumer Price Information System of the Consumer Defense Area of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) carried out a price survey of 48 school items, during the period February 1 to 18, 2022.
For the analysis, data from prices sent to the Consumer Price Information System by 508 establishments. In addition, they were relieved stationeries: Escool.uy, Ganduglia, La Papelera, Mosca, Office2000, and Papacito.
Based on a comparison with the same period in 2021, in 29 articles the average price increases, while in seven it decreases.
The articles they present a greater increase in their average price are: set of three brushes, Maped pencil sharpener one unit, Longlory thin markers 24 units, and Maped compass one unit.
Within the group of articles that they reduce their price, they stand out: Maped scissors 13cm one unit, Theory correction pencil one unit, Papiros chickpea leaves 25 units, Pelikan colored pencils 12 units, and thick Sylvapen markers six units.
Taking into account products that are sold unitarily in stationery stores, the price average of a Bic pen is $23of a Faber Castell black pencil HB Nº2 is $11.5, and of one Maped gum $19.5. On the other hand, packs present in supermarkets of the same products have the following average prices: four Bic pens $94.1six Faber HB Nº2 black pencils $114, three Maped pencil erasers $68.3.
By analyzing the price variations between establishments, the largest were recorded for a set of Pelikan colored pencils 12 unitsa set of three brushes, a 48-page Papyrus notebook, and a six-unit set of thick Sylvapen markers.
