The report of the Government’s bill was approved amid questions from Correista legislators.
With 6 votes in favor and 3 against, the Development Committee approved the report for second debate the Urgent Project of Law of Attraction of Investments.
For Assemblywoman Natalia Arias, who voted in support of the Executive’s proposal, now the party of government must work the votes “one by one” in plenary of the Assembly.
“We are optimistic. It is important that the Plenary deliver a true investment law to the country,” Arias said at a press conference.
José Vinueza, an independent assemblyman who voted against the project, said that the report has not been analyzed in depth, because they only had 20 days. He believes that the bill lacks limits and gradualness in the participation of the private company in the public area.
He also criticized that it raises the option of selling land to shrimp farms that is currently only awarded to them for 10 years. “Public land cannot be sold,” Vinueza said.
Now awaiting the pronouncement of the Assembly plenary, who has the time against to approve or deny the proposal. (GVL)
