The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) reported that to date, the investigation by the hacking to five computer systems last March is still in force in the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), which is why he denied that the case has been closed.

The UNAM clarified that on June 20, it filed a complaint with the FGR for the “alleged hacking” of March, which was ratified on the following June 30 and was formalized in an investigation folder that is still standing and for which there is still no resolution from the judicial authority, so the case has not concluded. “As part of the ministerial follow-up, the witnesses were summoned to appear and a visual inspection was carried out on August 8 (2025) by the Public Ministry of the Federation,” the national university detailed in an information card.

The UNAM detailed that only on December 11, 2025, the Public Ministry was requested to intervene by computer experts to inspect the equipment. Sources from the national university told this newspaper that the messages that have spread on social networks are “sensationalist,” in addition to not guaranteeing certainty.
Although he was indeed a prisoner of hacking by a cybercriminal, sources from the institution commented that the data of students, teachers and administrative staff were not violated as they have tried to believe, so the university community can rest assured that their personal data is protected.
