The internal control body of the INE will monitor settlements of directors who are leaving

The internal control body (OIC) of the National Electoral Institute (INE) has the objective of strengthening its audits by 2023 and favoring the prevention factor, for the best use of the organization’s public resources, which for the current year add up to 13 1,987 million, after a reduction of 4,475 million, made by the Chamber of Deputies to the draft presented by the national electoral referee.

In this context, the OIC will monitor, for example, the issuance of severance payments in accordance with the law for personnel leaving the INE.

On April 3, the president, Lorenzo Córdova, and three other directors conclude their term: Adriana Favela, Ciro Murayama and José Roberto Ruiz.

It will participate as an advisor in the technical committee of the trust called the fund to attend to the labor liabilities of the INE, in order to validate that the calculations of the compensation for the termination of the employment or contractual relationship of public servants, who cease to provide their services in the INE, which are proposed for payment, are under the criteria established by the standardis indicated in the 2023 annual work program that will be submitted for consideration by the general council of the organization.

Only in the 14th extraordinary session of the technical committee of this fund to address labor liabilities, the OIC said that 21 cases were approved for an amount of 9.3 million, although the range of workers in that retirement condition is not detailed.

It points out that it will also verify the figures presented in the accounting report and in the financial statements of the trust, in which the income (contributions and interest) and expenses (payment of authorized compensations and administration expenses) of the trust assets are reported, comply with the anticipated requirements.

Achieve best practices

The goal, he adds, is to generate a culture of best practices and permanent monitoring of each committee session, which make it possible to identify, improve and, where appropriate, timely correct the risks or conditions that limit and prevent the transparent exercise of resources.

If the electoral reform, discussed in Congress in the last stretch of 2022, is confirmed, the OIC may be a member of different decision-making bodies and not, as is the case now, serving only as a guest.

On another issue, the INE yesterday reopened the more than 900 citizen assistance modules in which matters related to the voter card are processed.
