During the mandate revocation day on April 10, the National Electoral Institute will deploy 300 special polling stations, which represent 30 percent of the 1,054 that were installed during the 2018 presidential election. However, the electoral advisor Martín Faz Mora explained that unlike the popular consultation in which none was installed, this time it will be one for each of the 300 electoral districts so that citizens in transit can vote.
Although the legislation establishes that in a federal election the district boards can define the location of up to 10 boxes of this type (with a maximum of 750 ballots), on this occasion only one was defined based on the budgetary restrictions imposed by the cut by the Chamber. of Deputies and the refusal of an extension of resources.
Faz Mora highlighted that these 300 special polling stations represent 0.52 percent of the total that will be installed for the revocation of the mandate, a similar percentage to the special polling stations installed in the last federal election. It will be up to each of the 300 district boards to determine the location, although they are usually in bus terminals, airports or public squares because these instances know, based on voting trends, in which of the places where they have been installed they captured the most votes. .
In each of the special voting booths, the counselor highlighted, there will be a system with computers that have access to the entire base of the nominal list of voters, to confirm that the citizen is found and their participation is guaranteed. Unlike the special polls in a federal election where the legislation determines a maximum of 750, in this case, the participation of 2,000 citizens will be allowed, a similar amount to each of the polls that will be displayed on that date.
Avoid claims
He acknowledged that the decision to install this type of special reception tables was due in part to the claims that were registered on the occasion of the popular consultation on the performance of past politicians held on August 1st. He specified that the voter who considers it so, may vote in any of these special boxes, even if it is not from the entity where he has his voter card.
