There will be two instances for these functions: one will be the internal control body (OIC), which is currently headed by Víctor Hugo Cervantes; This will acquire the quality of guarantor authority, so it will be responsible for reviewing the fulfillment of the INE in its transparency obligations.
The second will be a new collegiate body that will be in charge of the General Council of the INE, which will be called the transparency organ of personal data of the political parties.
This will monitor and protect the actions and omissions of political parties. It will be made up of three electoral councils, the Technical Secretariat and three vocalities in voice but without vote.
“The new guarantor authority of transparency and protection of personal data for national political parties must protect, know and ensure that they comply with their obligations in terms of transparency, access to the information generated by the parties, as well as the exercise of the right of access, rectification, cancellation, opposition and portability of personal data,” said the president of the INE, Guadalupe Taddei.
The counselor Claudia Zavala commented that with these new functions there is a “new line” that unites the INE with political parties, so she invited the representatives of these political organizations to work together “to provide a better service.”
“I think we will have to greatly strengthen the issue of transparency, facing the citizens, the immediacy we could have and then specify a model, a new model of how to do the review, but with the same principles of transparency and accountability,” said the counselor.
A month ago the INAI disappeared and was replaced with a new system – not autonomous – that will be in charge of transparency of the people, an organ that will depend on the anti -corruption and good governance secretariat.
Now, the agency headed by Raquel Buenrostro will have the functions carried out by the Institute in the field of transparency and protection of personal data of individuals.
It will also administer the National Transparency (PNT) platform, which is the website through which requests for public information can be made or consult data already published by the authorities.
To this is added that some functions that the extinct institute had were sent to the INE, but only those related to political parties.
