Location and logistics in Bogotá
Following a meeting between the District Government Secretariat, the CRIC Senior Advisor and the Ministry of the Interior, it was agreed that indigenous representatives will be installed in Renacimiento Park, in the centre of the capital.
The district administration, through the Secretary of Government, Gustavo Quintero, has guaranteed decent conditions for their accommodation and stay, ensuring the provision of basic services such as sanitary units and tents.
What are the demands of the Minga?
The indigenous minga arrives in Bogotá with the purpose of demanding from President Gustavo Petro an effective solution to the security crisis in the departments of Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca, which have been affected by the actions of armed groups such as the ELN, the FARC dissidents and the Clan del Golfo.
Indigenous leaders, protected by their law of origin and their own rights, seek to be heard directly by the president at the Casa de Nariño.
In addition to security, the minga also demands that water be recognized as a subject of rights, guaranteeing its protection and care for future generations.
During his stay in Bogotá, a dialogue agenda will be held between the CRIC and the National Government to address the demands of indigenous communities.
In addition, President Gustavo Petro has promised to receive the representatives at the Casa de Nariño, where proposals are expected to be presented and joint solutions to the problems raised will be sought.
The Ministry of the Interior, for its part, will coordinate all the logistics necessary to ensure the proper development of this mobilization, which represents one of the most important demonstrations of indigenous communities in defense of their rights and territories.
#BogotáNow The Minga indigenous mobilization arrives in Bogotá around noon. The District assured that it will guarantee the transportation and stay of the nearly 4,000 indigenous people. They will be located in the Parque del Renacimiento.
