The officials of the Ombudsman’s Office are concerned, given the increase in cases of sexual assaults on children and adolescents (NNA), for which they request the authorities of the Executive Branch and the Public Ministry to create public policies that stop sexual abuse against minors.
They also demand that the full weight of the Law fall on the perpetrators.
The Ombudsman’s Office also reiterated the call to the Legislative Branch to accept the initiative, presented in September 2022, which seeks to make it impossible to agree on sentences for people convicted of sexual crimes against children and adolescents to guarantee their protection of physical integrity. , psychological and moral.
They also asked the institutions that make up the Child Protection System and the Council for Children and Adolescents (CONA) to adopt all necessary measures to ensure each girl and boy the right to a life free of violence recognized in article 64 of the Law No.285 of 2022 that creates the System of Guarantee and Comprehensive Protection of the Rights of Children and Adolescents and article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Law No. 15 of 1990.
Develop services for family strengthening at a national level, aimed at promoting parental knowledge and skills to prevent situations of violence and identify early warning signs, as well as plans in the school environment that provide children and adolescents with tools and ways of complaints about situations of violence or that expose them to serious risks against their integrity.
