President Claudia Sheinbaum yesterday held a meeting in the National Palace with governors and governors to evaluate the progress of the IMSS-Bienestar program, as part of the federal strategy to guarantee access to medical services. Durazo said that during the session different topics were addressed, such as the supply of medicines and the hospital infrastructure planning for 2026 and 2027. He stressed that one of the central objectives is to initiate the consolidation of a unified national health system in the next two years.
In the case of Sonora, he added, specific projects were discussed for the entity, including the ongoing construction of an IMSS General Hospital. This work represents an investment of 2,500 million pesos and is considered one of the fundamental pieces to strengthen medical coverage in the state.
They attended, among others, the governors of Sonora, Tabasco, Puebla, Veracruz, State of Mexico, Zacatecas, Baja California Sur, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí, Baja California and the head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada.
