Who is Jorge Gaviño?
Jorge Gaviño Ambriz is a lawyer and politician. He has held different positions at the federal level and in Mexico City.
He was delegate to Álvaro Obregón in 1994 and, later, director of the Housing Institute of Mexico City between 1996 and 1997.
From 1997 to 2012 he was an official in the ISSSTE, in the Executive Secretariat of the National Security System, Pemex and in the National Lottery.
From 2012 to 2015 he was president of the Nueva Alianza party, in the then Federal District.
He returned as a capital official in the government of Miguel Ángel Mancera as director of the Metro Collective Transportation System from 2015 to 2018.
Gaviño reached the first legislature of the Mexico City Congress in 2018 for the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) and was re-elected in 2021.
In June 2024, he resigned from the PRD to join the campaign of current president Claudia Sheinbaum.
