During the first day of Mobile World Congress (MWC), The ICT Minister, Carmen Ligia Valderrama, made her presentation at the ‘Climate Change’ forum, in which she shared the country’s progress in the deployment of technologies such as fiber optics, digital transformation of the State, implementation of 5G, and the development of models of smart cities and territories.

Likewise, the head of the portfolio highlighted the work being carried out by the Government of President Iván Duque to protect the environment while advancing in the digital transformation.
“Our country continues to fulfill the commitments ratified at the COP26 environmental summit in Glasgow and has become one of the few nations in the world to promote specific regulations to reduce CO2 emissions”, Valderrama pointed out.
Likewise, the ICT Minister highlighted that in the field of mobile communications services, 5G technology it will not only help reduce carbon emissions.

Also, it will allow innovative applications in a series of sectors to support digital transformation or what has been called in the world as Industry 4.0.
“This is how we are helping to reduce gas emissions,” added the Minister in her presentation.
