In the last hours in the municipality of Hope in North Santanderchildren receiving care in a service unit resulted in health problems, presumably derived from intoxication.
From the first moment, professionals from the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF) carry out the accompaniment and verification of rights to minors who are part of the Semillitas Child Development Center (CDI).

The first inquiries show that the boys and girls presented health problems, allegedly for consuming food supplied in the service unit, located in the municipality of La Esperanza in Norte de Santander.
“We had a situation today (Friday) afternoon, where the children after they leave the CDI they begin to present some demonstrations, symptoms similar to intoxication. We have 41 intoxicated children in that CDI, from the ICBF we activate all the health routes from the first moment and the attention of all the affected children has been achieved, ”said Jessika Flórez Torres, director of the entity in Norte de Santander.

Once the situation was known, the care protocol was activated for the 74 boys and girls who attended the CDI, 41 of whom were transferred to health centers: 25 to the municipality of San Alberto in Cesar due to the proximity to that department and another 16 were sent to Aguachica due to the complexity of the symptoms.
Professionals from the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare traveled to the health centers to verify that the boys and girls receive the necessary care, know the medical diagnosis and accompany them during their evolution.
Similarly, the ICBF expects the results of the examinations carried out by the health authorityto identify the true causes of what happened and with it, request the operator to develop improvement actions that guarantee a quality service for the boys and girls served, the entity reported.
