The Health Coordinator of the Cerro Largo Intendancy was sentenced for the crime of smuggling especially aggravated

The Justice sentenced the Health Coordinator of the Cerro Largo Intendancy, William Barboza (Open Town Hall)at a penalty of two years in prison for a particularly aggravated smuggling crime. The police had seized more than $ 10 million in contraband merchandise that was in the house of the hierarch, in a warehouse and a truck.
The case was resolved this Tuesday through an abbreviated process, reported the prosecutor’s spokesman, Javier Benech. Barboza he had acceded to the position after a negotiation between his sector of Cabildo Abierto and the National Party.
After following the information from the customs authorities of Rio Branco —on the border between Uruguay and Brazil—, the Police found the warehouses of merchandise, among which there were 250 boxes of vodka, 216 boxes of whiskey and 354 boxes of shoes. Four vans and one truck were seized.
They arrested three Uruguayans (34, 45 and 50 years old). Two of them were released as summoned, and the 34-year-old man was formalized by the Rio Branco Law Court of the 2nd Turn.
