“My beloved Luigi, today marks 15 years since your departure. I know that you are calm and resting in peace next to God, and it still hurts…”, Escobar began writing in his message, which quickly went viral. The young student’s mother expressed that, although she has learned to live with emptiness, her son’s absence continues to be a wound that is impossible to heal.

Oneida confessed that this is a date that he would like to erase from his memory, since the memory of that night continues to tear his soul. “I have learned to live with this pain, to breathe between the voids that you left, but never to forget you. You do not forget who marked your life so deeply,” he added, revealing that the passage of time has not managed to mitigate the deep love he feels for Luis Andrés.

In his moving text, he also referred to his son as “a great teacher”, someone who continues to teach him even in his absence. “Your love, your strength and everything you were remain alive in me, in every thought, in every sigh,” he wrote tenderly, remembering the young man who was studying industrial engineering at the University of the Andes when he died.

Escobar, who for years has led a tireless fight for the memory and justice of her son, closed her message with a statement that reflects the eternal union between mother and son: “From here I send you all my love, with the hope that you feel it wherever you are. Because even if time passes, my heart continues to beat for you.”

“You will live forever in my mind and in my heart. I love you, my eternal love,” concluded Oneida, in a publication that has generated hundreds of messages of support and solidarity, remembering a young man whose death continues to be a symbol of pain, hope and search for truth in Colombia.
