Alexandra Suedis a woman from Santiago who has stood out as a trial lawyer in the State of New York and an activist for Human rights, profiles as one of the candidates for the presidency of the political organization. If she wins, Alexandra would become the youngest president of a political party in the Dominican Republic.
The Democratic Option National Convention will be held this Sunday, October 30. The authorities of the party will be chosen by direct vote of its members, which include the presidency, vice-presidency, general secretary and 16 national leaderships that will make up the Political Directorate. In addition, in this process the modification of the statutes of the party and its declaration of principles will be approved.
Betting on political renewal as a tool to capture a young electorate that does not feel represented, the potential triumph of Alexandra Suedwould reaffirm the trend of other progressive political parties in the region, such as Social Convergence in Chile, which was led by Gael Fernanda Yeomans Araya, 31 years old in 2019 and Alondra Arellano Hernández, 22 years old in 2020, and Future in Mexico, led by Susana De La Rose 29 years old.
