The Water sector office put into circulation this MondayThe Great Book of Water”, which will reach the 18 Regionals and the 122 Educational Districts of the country this year.
According to Minister of Education, Roberto Fulcar, With the publication of the book, they seek to create awareness in children, young people and adolescents about the importance of supplying and preserving the Water.
“Forming a new generation of Dominicans quotient of the power of the Waterof the importance of Water and the need to develop awareness to protect it”, said the minister.
He said that they will create a citizen chair with the Water in conjunction with the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (Egehid) and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indri).
When questioned by journalists about how many schools have a supply of Waterthe minister indicated that 5,235 are intervened.
He pointed out that when he arrived at the ministry, more than 80% of the schools did not have Water. There are eight thousand educational establishments in the country.
At the national level
The Director of the Cabinet of Water, Gilberto Reynosostated that the country has a supply of Water which covers in theory 80% of the Dominican population.
“For example, the Dominican rural area has very low supply coverage of Water drinkable in a general sense,” he said.
He stressed that only 5% of the wastewater in the Dominican territory receives treatment, while 95% goes down to sources of Water like the rivers.
Reynoso indicated that from the cabinet they make visits to all the provinces of the country to make a survey of what are the needs they have in relation to the Water.
