The Great National Alliance for Panama, made up of more than 130 unions of producers, ranchers, fishermen, merchants, agro-industries, among others, announced this Wednesday night that it will not recognize the agreements established at the single dialogue table that takes place in Penonome, Cocle.
Through a statement, they pointed out that “the statements issued today by Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa, where he repeatedly indicates that the productive sector will enter a second phase, do not seem very responsible to us. A second phase, which still has no date, advances with structural decisions resulting in agreements without technical support, unfeasible and unsustainable”.
They assure that “the agreements established without the presence of the productive sector have adverse consequences for Panama and are already affecting the families that are dedicated to the production of food in the countryside, causing shortages and parallel markets, which will end up impacting the national economy”.
The Great Alliance added that the productive sector is an indispensable actor in this country, it is not an observer, and the actions that are being taken, unilaterally, are aimed at annihilating those who have the responsibility of generating jobs for hundreds of thousands of Panamanians. “Work generates social peace, generates well-being and allows Panamanians to have control of our future.”
“Under this scenario that has been imposed on us, the Great National Alliance for Panama will not recognize the established agreements. We warn that a small minority is compromising the well-being and social peace of the entire Panamanian population,” reads part of the statement.
