The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, and the executive director of PAMI, Luana Volnovich, announced that In December, affiliates of the organization over 80 years of age and who receive up to one and a half credits will receive $10,000 as part of the Food Program and Christmas bonus..
“We are universalizing PAMI’s historic food program, commonly called ‘food bag’ and we are bringing the benefit to one million people,” said Volnovich, during an announcement made at the Palacio de Hacienda.
In this way, said the official, “we covered an old demand from retirement centers that had waiting lists years ago.”
“The food program had been completely underfunded by the management of (Mauricio) Macri and (Graciela) Ocaña; without increases and without new registrations, their purchasing power was destroyed and thus putting the health of people with great vulnerability at risk, ”said the official.
Thus, he maintained “we contribute with a reinforcement that protects the most vulnerable and values the efforts of the almost 4,000 retirement centers that for decades have brought Pami’s socio-preventive policies closer to their communities.”
On the other hand, Volnovich stressed that this program “is financed by the PAIS tax” that is charged to those who buy dollars for hoarding, approved by law in 2019.
For his part, Massa assured that “the idea is to improve retirement income, as we go down a path of lowering inflation.”
This measure “is basically possible because it is done with PAMI’s own resources, based on savings and a process of good administration, which allows us to carry out this reinforcement,” said the minister.
Massa advanced that “No retiree over the age of 80 will receive less than $95,000 when they go to collect their retirement, plus the Christmas bonus, plus this reinforcement allowance”.
“This is also complemented by the free medicine program, an investment that is carried out with its own resources, without the retiree suffering out of pocket,” added the Minister of Economy.
