The Government may submit review the Sworn Declarations of Meat Export Operations (DJEC) to those refrigerators that fail to comply with the prices agreed in the Care Cuts programwith the purpose of harmonizing “the development of Argentine livestock, the domestic consumer market and the country’s export capacity.”

In this way, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and the Ministry of Productive Development reflected in this measure the warning issued by the head of the agricultural portfolio, Julián Domínguez, in mid-March when the refrigerators of the Meat Exporters Consortium (ABC ) decided to discontinue the plan.

The decision was made through joint resolution 4/2022 published today in the Official Gazette.

“The Ministry of Internal Trade will inform the National Directorate of Agricultural Commercial Control of non-compliance, within the framework of its competence, to the price agreements and/or regulations applicable to the beef industry concluded by the regulated entities“, was determined in the first article of the standard.

In the second article of the resolution, it is established that “the National Directorate of Agricultural Commercial Control will observe the affidavits of Meat Export Operations (DJEC)”, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Trade, “until it reports that the obligated subjects have complied with the applicable regime”.

In this way, the national government decided to establish a rule that can penalize non-compliance by the refrigeration sector in matters of supply and prices of the program.

In the middle of last March, the companies grouped in the Argentine Meat Exporters Consortium (ABC), which contributes the bulk of the plan’s offer, decided unilaterally to stop participating, which was worth a summons from the Secretary of Domestic Trade.

Likewise, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Julián Domínguez, warned the companies that it would prevent the export of those that discontinue the programafter which the refrigerators backed down with the measure.

Regarding the resolution taken on Friday, the vice president of ABC and CEO of the Gorina refrigerator, Carlos Riusech, said that “it seeks fairness and solves some distortions of competitiveness as it is a written rule that sets the parameters for all exporters to participate in the programs of catering”.

In a dialogue with Télam, Riusech maintained that the exporting refrigerators have been “contributing product to the different supply programs for a long time” and that this norm “levels by being an even rule for all”.

Careful Cuts includes seven popular cuts of beef at reference prices well below those found in the market, which are sold from Monday to Friday in more than a thousand outlets throughout the country.

In this new stage, which will also last until July 7, the values of the cuts will be (per kilo): roast $679, empty $815, steak $810, brisket $449, roast lid $679, buttock $859 and shoulder $699.
